Austin Municipal Court Swearing In & Robing Ceremony

Swearing In & Robing Ceremony:
The swearing-in ceremony will be held Friday, February 5, 2010, at noon in the Austin City Council Chambers, City Hall, 301 W. 2nd Street.  The ceremony will be televised on local Channel 6, and also put on the City’s website.  The Mayor will administer a ceremonial oath, and other Council members may be in attendance.  It should last about 30 minutes.

For new judges like myself, they will hold a brief Robing Ceremony. It is a local tradition at this court, to mark the new judges’ first appointment to the bench and welcome them into the judiciary.  My friend and mentor, Judge Orlinda Naranjo, will assist me in donning my robe for the first time.

Light refreshments will be served in the Board & Commissions Room after the ceremony.

Evening Celebration:

There will be a happy hour celebration later that evening at El Sol y La Luna, 600 East 6th Street, starting at 5:30 p.m. Parking is available on the street, at nearby paid parking lots or one block away at the convention center public parking garage. Please join us.

Thank so much to everyone for all your kind words of congratulations, confidence and support. I hope to see you on February 5th.. Feel free to forward this email as I may not have everyone’s email address.
